In glass or beads -- A bright addition to the Northwest

Weir Studios is located in an old wooden boat barn in Ocean Park, at the north end of Washington’s Long Beach Peninsula. I am Andrea Mulkins Weir. I was born in Astoria, Oregon, at the mouth of the Columbia River, where my grandfather, Captain Ash, was a river and bar pilot. I draw from my rich memories of a northwest childhood to create illustrations of life as I see it.

Weir Pendants, grew out of fused glass bowls we, Andrea and Sven, have designed many lines of jewelry components Stiller Marks, Landscape, the Seasons, and Cosmic beach glass.  Stiller Marks are our hand painted pendants and pins – the black on red pine bough and brambles, the olive on golden lily pads, the magenta on lavender dune grasses, and the cobalt on light blue ocean waves, etc.  The eye catching cosmic beach glass blends flotsam and jetsam with dichoic glass in rectangular pendants and individual shapes.  These are available at retail and wholesale,

Weir Finished Jewelry, using the cabochones and pendants Andrea has fashioned many finished jewelry pieces. Strung necklaces rythmicly designed to bring out the colors in the pendants. Using a variety of beads (glass, handmade, stone, organics) these pieces are of every day simplicity. Multistrand necklaces and bracelets (including earrings) convey a theme on a grander scale. Using 3 hole and 2 hole pieces a special piece comes together with sea, meadow, steampunk, or southwest references. Single and double cabochone beaded embrodiery necklaces emerge out of their colors making a statement in color and synchronicity. Seeing live as bound in sychonized orbits of influence and complimentaryness. Groupings of chabochones and beads bead embrodiered into collers and bibes make the biggest statements. They draw the eye and hold it. The beholder marvels at the color and slowly envisions the theme. Please do spend some time here enjoying the view.

Weir Fused Glass the variety is simply astounding; these world-class fused objects are evolving rapidly. Andreas painting captured in side the fuse is a wellspring of creativity.  The scenes and figures range from northwest scenes to dancing figures, fish cavorting in bowls to politicians in salad bowls.  Composed of colors and patterns patched together, with borders based in the European tradition, especially Scandinavian. The colors are like bits of human enterprise arising out of the fog in the fields, deep rivers and sparkling streams, clover and pine. Red opalescent bits of glass decorated with black fir bows are our trademark. Figures from a recent past cavort and play through much of her glass. Each piece is unique and signed. Her plates, platters and bowls add bright drama and shining warmth to any home or business.

Weir Glass painting has created large architectural panels or small, intimate remembrance panels, such as for weddings, graduations or memorials. Glass painting is an old tradition, and once a work is kiln-fired, it will not wash off or fade in sunlight. Let us bring this wonderful tradition into your life by creating a custom panel for you, leaded or foiled, framed or installed, working within your price, time and architectural constraints.
